With Abundance Comes a lot of S(tuff)!!

Im looking forward to writing more posts soon.. Very soon. As in starting tomorrow haha. I look forward to posting everyday at least until my birthday on January 9. A lot of exciting eco, outdoor, health, vegan, and holistic posts coming your way 😀 . Today Ill leave you with a personal story entitled “With Abundance Comes a lot of S&%^” and ill try to make this quick..

There’s a tree in my front yard that every winter once the leaves fall off it has thousands of berries that the birds love to eat. I mean tons. Well, the other day I watched as what appeared to be over 100 birds fly in the tree at once to eat and then repeat the process for 10 minutes leaving and coming back. I couldn’t help but be grateful for such abundance in my yard, I mean look at all those birds the tree was feeding. How abundant I thought. Without a thought, an hour later I prepared to leave my house to run errands, and to my surprise, guess what gift the birds left me on my car?? Yep. You got it. S*&^! Or for more common terminology, poop. Now this isn’t your ordinary bird poop. This is red berry bird poop, and when I say it was everywhere on my car, there were over 50 hits of target practice including on all my windows, handles, just everywhere, sigh. I was actually embarrassed. So embarrassed that for the first time in like 7 years I took my car to the car wash ( I usually get someone to wash it by hand).. and I thought to myself, why did it take such a circumstance for me to give my car 5 star service. Sometimes we won’t be rocked to greatness until life throws some stuff our way 😉 . The key is, don’t let it get to that point. But also, be clear, sometimes it’s unavoidable and perhaps,

The More the Abundance, The More S(tuff) You Should be Prepared to Handle… sometimes it just comes with the territory.        Happy Holidays!!!

If you have any cool holiday stories please share. Hopefully they aren’t as gross as mine. lol

Motivational Monday: A Tuesday Post

Yesterday I went to a very special place in Maryland’s nature. I call it special because there was hardly anyone there, well, except for a few fisherman. Story, on that later. In the meantime, as the men fished, I sat on the pier and watched tiny little fish swim by. As they swam, I noticed something. A fish no longer than my pinky finger was creating ripples in the water 1-3 feet out, in all directions.

It reminded me that every action that we take, every thought, every lazy moment, like the fish, creates a ripple. We are constantly sending out signals to the universe of what we want, and what we’ll attract.

The thing about the fish though was, whether or not it wanted to have this effect was irrelevant. As a direct reaction to the action of movement, more movement (waves) were created. So a very simple reminder to self, every action I take creates ripples (responses), whether you see it or not.  You can attract more of a good thing or more of a bad thing its my choice. I choose good!! What kind of ripples will you send out today??

Bald Eagles, Harriet Tubman, and Wind

I still have a post on more ways to combat and improve food waste soon but i’m looking to do something special with my mini-me to convey the message more uniquely so stay tuned. In the mean time….

A little over a week ago my mini me and I set out on a fun Saturday adventure. We went to an Eagle Festival on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and it was a fantastic time, despite those deathly winds. A swift reminder that if you’re traveling over an hour, the weather will probably vary. I dressed SO wrong for this day it wasnt even funny.

My outfit was a cross between spring fitness, grocery store run, indoor rock climb haha. Seriously.. On our itinerary was a Harriet Tubman underground railroad hike and somehow I envisioned muddling through the marsh, climbing trees, getting dirty… ehhh I think I exaggerated a bit. Anyway, my goddaughter and I had a lovely time and ill share some of the highlights and troublesome moments…

1. They had a lot of children activities, my little explorer got to paint a shirt, make buttons and more. She loved it!

We went on a 2 hour eagle prowl with a group and it was awesome.. Saw so many eagles! Did I mention I lost our tickets to our reserved spot? Yea.. they fell out my pocket, but somehow we managed to find a ranger who had the list w/our names. He gave us 2 extra tickets to which I had an 11 year old tell me she’d hold them bc clearly I wasnt responsible enough. Hilarious! Yet… sad. I have a few silver sprouters on this noggin but sheesh.

We also did some archery which I feel like in a past life I was totally a professional, buddhist, competitive, cowboy, archer. Yea I just made that up.. but really it was fun and i’d like to get into archery more.

Next up, shooting a bebe gun. Did I spell that right? Now for my country ppl, thats no big deal, in fact my little cousin has one, but ive never held anything close to a gun.. unless paintball guns and water guns count? Anyway, that was fun. Except the part where the target was a turkeys neck and i dont eat meat soooo yea. Our hunter guy was like “shoot that turkey dinner in the neck”… Ehhh. I felt so bad but I really wanted to shoot the bebe gun and it was only a theoretic neck so im in the clear right? and guess what? I aint get the turkeys neck, YAY! haha. Awkward!

Lastly was the Harriet Tubman walk and it was on the anniversary weekend of her death, it was a really good turn out. Over 100 people of EVERY background gathered around. and I must say, Tony Cohen did a great job. A lot of talking… but a great job. Also an antsy 11 year old who was getting tired and I couldn’t be mad.. It was 3pm and we left at 7am.

She learned a lot, I learned a lot.. we had a great fun day! The wetlands in MD are B-E-A-UTIFUL. Stay tuned for our next adventure. Below are a few pics!

Farm Adventures: The Duck Attack

Yesterday I visited a farm in Md. I went with no expectations except to catch sunset photos with my friend. Boy was I in for a treat… I walked upon what seemed to be an animal sanctuary of sorts. The entrance you walk past a large grassy fenced in area full of cows. there was one that was limping, which kinda made me sad… I wished I couldve helped her. next we got to the ducks area. that little mean duck came all the way out of its pond over to greet us… or shall I say, cuss us out in duck. seriously, it was ANGRY. ive never been so happy to be fenced off from a creature in my life. excuse my ignorance, i also did not know ducks hiss? like snakes! Oh em Gee hahaha. Despite the verbal slander I received, I remained cordial with my little duck friend. Even after it tried to bite my friends finger off *gasp*.

Did I mention it was like freeeezing haha. Next, we kept walking on the trail, and came upon a ravishing view. Down further in the open field there was a family of like 50 deer just chilling having a reunion lol. I jokingly suggested we walk down towards them but got scared halfway lol. I very mad at myself about this, i mean, i’m like the animal whisperer… What did I have to be leery of?

We walked back, and visited a nice little horse in its barn. it looked a little small to me (the barn that is) but I guess it was warm. That horse was huge though :(… We were also the only people there.. which i think is great. It was an hour before closing so I guess thats why. Anyway, it was a good day. Reminded me of one the reasons I dont eat meat, and why I love animals. They are so precious to us.
